Strand of Silk, the e-platform retailing collections of

fashion designers has announced the launch of New Age bridal collection by designer Narendra Kumar. The collection includes collections for a modern bride who demands contemporary styles with Indian traditions.

‘Nari’, as he is fondly known in the fashion fraternity, was the founding Fashion Editor for Elle in India and continues to work with several leading fashion magazines. Kumar launched his first eponymous collection in 2000. The brand epitomises modern luxury, structured silhouette and sharp tailoring while integrating the richness of specially woven Indian fabrics and hand crafted detailing.

The designer launched his bridal collection at the Couture Fashion Week in India in 2012. It includes bridal saris, lehengas and other styles of Indian wedding clothes. The collection is influenced by the classical ballet traditions and is inspired by compositions representative of romanticism in Russian classical music. The aesthetic is romantic and classic with a youthful, modern twist. The fabrics are rich and include silks, velvets, georgettes, soft satins and rich organza. The detailing is inspired by traditional Indian crafts and includes appliqué embroidery, quilting, colour blocking, layering and panelling.

Recently, the designer known for his ready-to-wear and made-to-measure line gained entry into Britain’s ‘Esquire Big Black Book of Style’. He is the only Indian designer who has made the cut. Esquire-UK, one of the world leading men’s fashion magazines, recently curated a list of ‘The Best Men’s Stores’ in the World’ for its 2012 ‘Big Black Book of Style’ and added Narendra Kumar’s name to its list. The designer has two flagship stores in Mumbai and New Delhi. His store has been selected as one of the 56 top outlets in the world along with Barneys New York, Paul Stuart, New York, and others.
