Nitish Chandra to showcase his designs in SA

Bihar-born Indo-western fashion designer and

choreographer, Nitish Chandra is taking his collection to the second edition of ‘Ivory Coast Fashion Week-2012’ in Abidjan and Grand Bassam (South Africa) from May 2 to 6. The collection is based on the theme of ‘fashion industry’.

Known for his organic bridal, evening and business wear range, Chandra uses pure khaddar, jute, Bhagalpuri silk with brocade and velvet, twisting traditional weaves with western pattern and look. He is also the official wardrobe designer of Reet Sahu at ‘Mrs India International-2012’ in Atlanta from May 25. He will also showcase his collections at ‘New York Fashion Week-2012’ in October.

The designer has many big plans to achieve such as setting up a model grooming institute and launching his signature store in Patna. Passionate about fashion designing, Chandar, born in Purnia, Bihar dropped out from the third year of an engineering course to pursue his dream. He graduated in apparel and fashion designing in 2007 from Garden City College, Bangalore. After staying for five years in Bangalore and three years in Mumbai, Chandar now plans to professionally settle down in Bihar to create a fashion friendly environment in the state.
