Mumbai-based India Fashions opened an exclusive store for its OOBE (Out of Body Experience),

a women’s ready-to-wear garments brand at the City Centre mall in Kolkata. India Fashions, with a turnover of over Rs 50 crores, plans to invest Rs 5 crore in its retail operations, which comprises opening 25 stores in Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Noida, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.

The ‘City Centre’ outlet is the company’s eighth outlet and the first in the city. India Fashions has been exporting more than 90 per cent of its products to United States, Europe, Canada, South America, New Zealand and the Middle East — prior to launching OOBE 4 years back. “We feel that the domestic market has huge potential — our main focus would now be India. We are targeting a 30-40 per cent growth in the domestic business whereas the export growth target has been set at 10 per cent only”, says N Mehta, Managing Director, India Fashions.

At the moment it has no plans to tie-up with big brands to market its products on a bigger scale. But it may look at once the ‘brand’ gains presence across the country. It is taking the eastern market very seriously and their target from City Centre outlet is around Rs 20 lakh, nearly double of what they generate from the Mumbai and Delhi outlets. They are looking to set up two more store in Kolkata soon.

India Fashions has its manufacturing units in Thane, and Silvassa with a monthly capacity to manufacture 90,000 woven garments, 50,000 flat knits and 25,000 circular knits.
