An exhibition of 12 renowned Pakistani designers was organized

in Srinagar recently. The expo titled ‘Tradition of Finesse’ showcased collections from Junaid Jamshed, Bareeze, Chinyere, Working Woman, Kayseria, Leisure Club, Shahnameh and Urban Culture among others. It was a big draw among Kashmiris who have been seeing similar outfits on TV or read about them in fashion magazines. From traditional salwar kameezes to kurta pajamas for men and women a host of outfits were on display.

The event was sponsored by Sheikh Feroz, the Managing Director, Alkhuddam Group of companies. He said that he used to buy Bareeze in Dubai and wondered why Kashmiris can’t enjoy such traditional dresses. It was then that he came up with the idea of organizing an exhibition where Kashmiris could get to know about the fashion they have never seen in real. Feroz also said that Junaid Jamshed and his team of designers had called him to inform that they had organized a special prayer meeting at their headquarters for the success of the exhibition.

Apart from the brands on display, few others have shown interest in joining in the next time around. The exhibition offered dresses both high and moderately priced ranges. In the Bareeze cotton collection, for instance, women’s dresses were priced up to Rs 10,000 while Junaid Jamshed kurtas and pajamas start at Rs 2,000. Besides dresses for men and women, designer Peshawari sandals were also available at the exhibition.
