Pearls Infrastructure has pulled out of the Delhi Couture Week, scheduled to take place

from July 20 to 24 at The Grand Hotel, Vasant Kunj. The real estate firm, which had been the sponsor for the fashion gala since its inception last year, has reportedly run into trouble with the Enforcement Directorate, and is hence unable to honor its commitment this year. Incidentally in 2010 as well there was a problem with the event which was called the Pearls Delhi Couture Week. The Pearl Academy of Fashion went to court opposing the use of the word 'pearls' in the title, stating it was a violation of the trademark Pearl and was causing confusion, as the academy has been associated with fashion since 1979.

With Pearls Infrastructure pulling out at the last moment, the Delhi Couture Week 2011 will now have just eight couturiers showing over four nights. That is two couturier per night. For the uninitiated, FDCI had added an afternoon slot.

Pearls Infrastructure Projects is an ISO 9001:2008,14001:2004 and OHSAS18001:2007 certified real estate company having a pan-India presence with a versatile portfolio of townships, residential apartments, shopping malls and commercial complexes. The event may now take place from July 20 to 23 at the Taj Palace Hotel, and will most likely feature only evening shows.
