Ace designer Vikram Phadnis is all set to showcase

a non-glamorous collection, inspired by rural India, on the runway of the summer-resort edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW). A five day event, LFW will kickstart in Mumbai from March 22. Phadnis, known for his extravagant and larger than life creations, has partnered with Swades Foundation, an NGO working for the empowerment of rural India for his fashion show. He will also dedicate his line for the noble cause.

For the collection, the designer will keep the bling element aside and has used a lot of traditional work like zari, zardozi and gota, while the cuts will be modern and contemporary with a rural India feel. The designer, who has earlier created garments for celebrities like Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Rao and Soha Ali Khan, also visited Raigad district in Maharashtra to especially prepare for his latest offerings

As a designer, he feels that it is his responsibility to work towards the cause and his designs are his dedication towards the same. And though, he is not sure of the impact his designs could have to help the cause, but according to him, they would ultimately make an effect somewhere down the line.
