Poonam, Nawaz launch S2

Jewelry designer Poonam Soni has teamed up with Nawaz Singhania, a celebrity artist and

has come up with a new jewelry brand S2. This is a range of limited edition signature jewelry that represents the coming together of the distinctive artistic talent of both Soni and Singhania. The 2011 collection is titled ‘Born Free’. S2 which stands for Soni-Singhania is a range of bespoke French sautoirs. A sautoir (also known as a rope) is a long necklace (longer than opera-length), often with an ornament (a tassel or pendant) at the end. The collection is woven around innovative, miniature paintings created by Singhania. Each oil-on-canvas painting is based on the concept of movement and speed.

The collection uses a medium of silver, gold and antique rose cuts with precious gems. Each piece in the collection has silver chains studded with antique rose-cuts which are punctuated by bugs and leather loops. Each piece is detachable and can be worn as a long drape or a neck piece, which makes it perfect for formal occasions as well as a casual evening about town. For today’s young woman the collection is a unique blend of style and intricate elegance. Soni is among the top jewelry designers in India – her daughter is also a jewelry designer. They have three workshops in Mumbai along with two boutiques --Signature Line and Jewel Inn. Fitness expert and artist Nawaz Singhania is the wife of Gautam Singhania, head of Raymond.
