Portico’s opens exclusive store

Portico, the premium lifestyle brand opened its new home store at Bandra, Mumbai recently.

The brand, which is especially popular among children for its cartoon character-based motifs, is now chalking out major expansion plans in North and east India. “We have been working with quite many international licensing marketing companies like — Disney, Mattel, Marvel, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon. Each of them have some strong characters which are popular among children,” says Rajiv Merchant, CEO, Creative Portico India. From Mickey Mouse to Winnie the Pooh and Hannah Montana to High School Musical, the brand has products aimed at various age groups of children.
Already present in 180 large format stores across India, Portico is now looking at expansion to newer cities. “We may add 10 new stores by 2010-11. These will be concentrated in the north and east,” Merchant says. With a turnover of Rs 90 crore, the brand is now looking targeting Rs 120 crores in 2010-11.
