American jeans and casual wear manufacturer Levi Strauss has appointed Sanjay

Purohit as the managing director of Levi Strauss India. He succeeds Shumone Chatterjee, who has moved to the regional office in Singapore to become vice-president of marketing for Levi Strauss & Co’s Asia-Pacific division.

Purohit has the task of continuing the accelerated growth of Levi Strauss & Co’s businesses in India. Chatterjee moves up to the regional leadership role after five years of heading the India business. Both Purohit and Chatterjee are members of the Asia-Pacific leadership team. The company is celebrating its 15th year in India and is gearing up for more growth in a country of significant opportunities.

Levi Strauss & Co is one of the world’s largest branded apparel companies and a global leader in jeans wear, marketing its products in more than 110 countries worldwide. The company designs, and markets jeans, casual wear and related accessories for men, women and children under the Levi’s, Dockers and Signature brands. The company’s Asia-Pacific division was established in 1995 in Singapore. It comprises local subsidiary businesses, licensees and distributors selling its products in 39 countries in Asia-Pacific and southern Africa.
