Fashion designer Raakesh Agarvwal, known for his chic and smart sense of design,
has brought his couture line to Mumbai. Part of the line is the same as what he showed at the Delhi Couture Week but he has added new pieces to the line as well. Nearly 50 per cent of the line consists of modern outfits, around 20 super glam saris and a few lehengas. The Indian outfits have been adorned with out-of-the-box embroidery techniques and teamed with careful construction and drapes. He has used Japanese beads on some outfits while a few others have very fine mukesh embroidery on them.Among his future plans are an accessory line, interior designing and some international collaborations. The designer has a soft corner for Mumbai, which has always taken kindly to his experiments with fashion. He presents a vision that moves from glimmering flesh tones to delicious peaches. Then his blushing pinks move sinuously into fuchsia tones, ending their journey in seductive wines. In material, an unparalleled blend of silks, jerseys, tulle that cascades flawlessly down the runway like harmonious limericks. At the last Pune Fashion Week, his couture collection was an amalgamation of hand embroideries, delicate drapings and fitting silhouettes. The collection that moved from flesh tones to peaches and then pinks and fuchsias consisted of short and long dresses, saris with leggings, jackets and pants. The fabrics used were silks, chiffons, lycra and velvets.
