Ralph Lauren has filed a case against textile firm Arvind

and US Polo Association (USPA) in a US District Court for allegedly breaching an agreement. Ralph Lauren has alleged breach of agreement between Ralph Lauren Corporation, USPA and Arvind due to non compliance with respect to disclaimers to be printed on USPA products sold in India, Arvind has said in a BSE filing.

Arvind’s subsidiary, Arvind Lifestyle Brands (ALBL) holds a licence to manufacture and market USPA branded products in India. Arvind further added in the filing that Ralph Lauren first issued a notice for arbitration to be held in India against it and USPA and the company was successful in obtaining a temporary injunction against the commencement of arbitration from the jurisdictional court in India, which injunction is currently operative. “Unfortunately during the pendency of the said injunction, Ralph Lauren has instituted the suit in New York,” Arvind said.

However, both Arvind and ALBL are confident that they would win the lawsuit since they are in a strong position and have not breached any contract with Ralph Lauren.
