Ramam to showcase in San Francisco

While the western fashion world is increasingly getting

attracted to Indian designs, even India designers are trying their best to display our rich fashion legacy on international platforms. Designer Anuradha Ramam is one of them. She has will display her collection made with weaves like ikat and kantha in San Francisco to boost the interest levels. It will be presented in the form of a fashion show on April 14, 2012.

Her collection will be a mix of handwoven fabrics in a medley of bright colours and kantha saris embedded with mirror work; handblocked and embroidered stoles and tunics having a traditional yet contemporary touch, which are especially created for NRIs and American clientele. Ramam, whose clientele boasts of names including actress Kiron Kher, socialites Dolly Thakore and theatre personality Lushin Dubey, Rajya Sabha MP Brinda Karat, supports over 350 women weavers in West Bengal and 200 weavers in Andhra Pradesh.
