Ranchi’s Daisy Sinha to present at LFW

Despite of being a botanist, Daisy Sinha, the 54-year-old

lecturer of fashion designing at Marwari College, Ranchi has taken the state on to the country's top fashion podium by becoming one of the 11 creative designers at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2013 winter collection. After putting up a picture of a jacket designed by her with the use of Madhubani painting on Facebook, she became famous among young fashion designers across India.

One among them, is a young fashion designer from Bangalore named Sharmila who suggested that Sinha should send it to LFW. She sent it and it was approved, Sinha then had to go through several rounds of interview and submit 40 designs and two stitched dresses before getting the selection letter from LFW.

Her design was selected from over 20,000 items submitted by more than 300 contestants. Sinha, a Botany graduate, did her course in fashion designing from Ravindra Vishva Vidyapeeth in New Delhi. She joined Marwari College as lecturer in 2003. At present, Sinha is researching on 'Role of Indian traditional art in latest fashion trend at national and international levels' from Ranchi University. She also did a diploma in fashion designing from Centre for Education.
