After signing Ogilvy India Worldwide to manage its own fashion brand, leading e-commerce player Myntra has

roped in Bollywood star Ranveer Singh to endorse its in-house range of casual wear, Roadster. Roadster is the first among ten in-house labels that Myntra is planning to treat as standalone brand, which will be sold on other sites as well as offline stores.

Roadster, launched in December 2012, has over 650 products priced between Rs 300 and Rs 3,799. Myntra, and other online stores, started launching in-house fashion ranges as these offer better margins. As per the estimates, branded apparels attract up to 45 percent margins and private labels are able to bring in even higher margins of about 60 percent. For Myntra, this segment contributes about a fifth of its total revenue, with fresh funds coming in, the company could now focus on expanding its fashion portfolio.

Talks are said to be on between another leading etailer Flipkart and Myntra to reach a solution to counter competition from global e-com majors like Amazon, which is all set to start selling products in the country. American lifestyle clothing retailer Gap is also expected to partner with Myntra for an online store.
