In a fashion industry, there are always fears and accusations
of copying each-other’s designs. To keep such practises at bay, fashion designer Raghavendra Rathore has decided to copyright his two established styles -- the Jodhpurs and the Bandgalas. These styles have not only got recognition around the world, but also in a recent Forbes survey, the Bandgala has been identified as the most exquisite option of dressing up for formal and semiformal occasions. The designer has just not made these two styles popular but a lot of research and two dedicated decades have gone into reviving these royal dressing attires. He has also given these pieces a new definition with a fashionable twist on the runway. So, now he has decided to copyright his original design. In order to bring certain legitimacy to the original blueprint of the Bandgala and breeches, the Rathore Design House has embarked on copyrighting both, the classic pattern and technical details that form the essence of the designs now.
Of course, according to the designer, the attempt is not to stop other designers from experimenting with the styles but he is copyrighting the look exclusively created by his brand over the past 20 years. For example, the piping and the band inside the collar, the finishing technique, the inner design of the jacket, the finishing detail and all the handwork on the waistband of the pants, the precise technical pattern details that emulate the particular cut of the Bandgala suit and the Hindi label insignia that lends it a past connect.
