After unveiling a denim collection under his new Club J label,

renowned designer Ragvendra Rathore plans to introduce an exclusive collection for women. He would initially showcase the women’s collection at fashion events and then make it accessible to customers at affordable prices under a different label. He believes that the logical expansion of a designer brand should be based upon quality at affordable rates.

According to him, a good designer should first understand the market demand and situation before launching a line so that he/she could incorporate the elements consumers look for.

Rathore began his designing career when he was hired by American designer Donna Karan as an assistant for the sportswear segment of DKNY. Later, his association with Oscar de la Renta, one of the world’s leading designers, gave him some unique exposure to the international designer wear industry. In 1994, he returned to India and launched Rathore Jodhpur brand in Jodhpur followed by a workshop in Delhi. His design for the classic tailored look and Jodhpur bandhgala has earned him a respectable place in the Indian fashion history. The designer is not limited to apparel alone. He has expanded into interior designing and jewellery under the Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur brand.
