Raymond inks MoU with UP Govt for skills development

Raymond, one of India's largest branded fabric and fashion retailers,

and leading manufacturer, marketer and retailer of worsted suiting fabrics, has signed a MoU with the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government to organize skill training programs for unemployed youths of the state in order to provide them employment.

The MoU was signed between the company and Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Society (UPSDM) under the vocational education and skill development department of the state government in the presence of the state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The initiative has been taken up by the Skilled Training Institute of Raymond (STIR), a public charitable trust of the Raymond group, which will be setting up state-of-the-art garment manufacturing training centers in Lucknow, Varanasi, Meerut, Ghaziabad and Agra, within the state industrial training institutes.

The training institute would offer courses in garment manufacturing ranging from basic tailoring to specialized courses in stitching shirts, trousers, jackets, kurtas, sherwanis and jodhpuris. Students will be trained in crafts like body measurement, pattern making and drafting, cutting, stitching and specialized operations, such as finishing and packaging.
