Raymond, one of the largest integrated manufacturers of worsted

fabrics in the world, has launched its economy-brand ‘Makers’ in three north Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The Makers fabric would be offered at various multi-brand outlets (MBOs) in these states. Banking upon increasing brand consciousness among consumers in small towns on the back of rising disposable incomes the company expects Makers to carve a niche for itself in these areas. Products under the economy-brand would be offered in special packages, so they can be utilized for wedding and other gifts. The company’s manufacturing unit in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district would meet the new demand for Makers fabric range.

Raymond is looking to capture 4-5 per cent market share of India’s Rs 40 billion low-priced fabric market, by the end of 2012-13. Raymond unveiled the Makers range of shirting and trousers fabric last year in eastern markets. It now plans to increase the presence of the economy-brand pan-India by making it available at around 50,000 MBOs in the next two years.

The product range of Makers comprises of poly viscose and poly wool trouser fabrics, along with a range of shirting fabrics in 100 per cent cotton, linen and cotton blends.
