With green fashion catching up, environmentalists are getting a helping hand from fashion
designers in trying to pass on the message about global warming. Designer Amy Billimoria devoted a fashion show to spread the word about global warming. She recycled old clothes to make new ones. Billimoria extracted accessories from discarded clothing like embroidery and lace and transferred them to new ones using hand appliqué techniques. Her collections showcased stunning evening gowns. The designer devoted a whole show to the cause that saw a number of high-profile guests walking down the ramp like Farah Khan Ali, Nisha Jamvwal, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Lucky Morani and Neelam Roy.The designer was inspired to do this show after attending an International Society of Dyers and Colourists conference which revealed how much electricity and water is used in the production of a simple T-shirt when it gets slightly faded or stained. The same is true for other outfits as well. Billimoria has been consistently successful as a fashion designer for 17 years. Specializing in couture and bridal fashion, she caters to a global clientele comprising celebrities, socialites and industrialists alike.
