SKNL has something to celebrate now that President Barack Obama is on its client list. Last year,

SKNL acquired the Chicago-based US clothing company Hartmarx Corp that makes premium menswear and boasts of clients like the President himself. During Obama’s recent visit to India SNKL had put out ads in leading newspapers highlighting the US president wearing the company’s Hart Schaffner Marx suit. Now the company is looking to retail Reid & Taylor, the ultra premium men’s bespoke apparel brand in the US. It is the natural choice to dress other celebrities in the US, a country chock-a-block with A List people.

Currently, Reid & Taylor only sells its fabrics in the US. SKNL director Ashesh Amin says they are planning to take Reid & Taylor to the US in the next 6-8 months and develop designs suited for that market. The plan is to sell ready-made apparel at exclusive stores and multi-brand retail points. The Reid & Taylor apparel range includes suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, ties, T-shirts, jeans and accessories.

Gearing up for this great opportunity, SKNL is in the process of listing its subsidiary Reid &Taylor Ltd in India. It has already filed a draft prospectus to raise over Rs 1,000 crores in this regard. Amin says they could utilize the funds to expand manufacturing capacity, increase the number of stores across India along with global expansion. He added that SKNL was closely studying opportunities to introduce premium international apparel labels to India. Very soon they hope to launch international brands into India and are talking to three of the top five apparel retailers in the world to bring them here.
