Reliance Retail ropes in Sanjay Jog

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Retail has brought in Sanjay Jog to head the

HR operations. Jog was heading the HR department of rival Kishore Biyani’s Pantaloon Retail for the last seven years. Jog, who was HMV Saregama India’s international COO before joining Pantaloon Retail in 2005, is the latest in a string of executives to have quit the country’s largest retailer over the last one year or so. Before him, Future Value Retail’s joint CEO Sanjeev Agarwal, COO Pankaj Tibrewal, Executive Director (customer strategy), Vibha Rishi, group’s telecom venture CEO, Mayur Toshniwal, eZone’s Head, Manoj Kumar and Home Town sourcing head Mahesh Shah have all put in their papers.

A post-graduate from the Pune University, Jog has spent more than two decades in services sectors in India as well as outside the country. He had also worked with DHL, Indian Hotels Group, Bharti Enterprises and RPG Enterprises. With a focus on consumer businesses, Reliance Industries has decided to up group’s retail venture revenues 5-6 times and by achieving sales of Rs 40,000-50,000 crores in the next three to four years.

The group, through its new format Reliance Markets is partnering kirana stores and small retailers to supply them products at low prices apart from strengthening its portfolio of global brands through partnerships. Reliance Retail had reported healthy sales growth across all its formats for the quarter and financial year ended March 31, 2012. Its other specialty stores Reliance Trends and Reliance Digital doubled their footprint in the country, and attained leadership position in the segments they operate in.
