Resort Fashion Week returns to Mumbai

After two successful editions held in Goa, the India Resort

Fashion Week would be held in Mumbai this year. Now christened India Resortwear Fashion Week (IRFW), this year’s edition has also brought actor Bipasha Basu on board as the face of the event.

Slated to take place from December 12 to 14, this event will see fashion shows on the first two days, with the third day witnessing India Glamour and Fashion Awards to felicitate talent across categories — from designers, retailers and celebrities to emerging companies, make-up artistes, and hair stylists. Designer Rocky S is the creative director for the event being organised by the company E-Sense Entertainment.

While the reason behind shifting the venue to Mumbai is because of the criticism it got from several quarters — most notably from Goa-based designer Wendell Rodricks, who argued that the event was hurting its environment and image, organisers say that Mumbai has been chosen as the new venue because it is a convenient place for the media and the fashion industry. And unlike the last two years, this year's event is 'By Invitation Only'.
