Ritu Kumar and BMW coupe tied-up for a joint show. Don a Ritu Kumar outfit and drive off in a

BMW coupe. That's the complementary synergy the two iconic brands in couture and cars offer each other. The designer showcased pieces from brands Label, Ritu Kumar and Ri at the BMW-Platino Classic Motors showroom. The show also saw the display of the latest BMW 5 series and the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé.

Kumar has given Indian motifs a pride of place in international fashion. Her bridal wear collection has taken bridal finery to glamorous heights. Her eponymous line has changed the whole concept of ethnic prêt. And with Label, a line that she does along with her son Amrish, Kumar has blended the best of both east and west. Label is for people with a more mobile lifestyle. It is tweaked to be international and youthful. She has designed costumes for her cousin, Deepa Mehta’s film Bollywood Hollywood, and for two of her son’s films Little Terrorist and The Forest. Her long productive years in the field have not satiated Kumar yet. She feels much more has to be done. This time her story is called ‘Cloth of Gold’, where she is working on handloom weaves from Benares.
