(WFW). This fashion extravaganza promises to be a unique event with leading fashion designers across the world representing their countries. To showcase the rich Indian tradition and culture through fashion, Ritu Kumar has been selected to represent India at the event to launch a global campaign titled Give your light to the world. Ritu Kumar is obviously proud to be representing the synthesis of skills and traditions that reflect India’s diversity in design. She says, what inspires this UN fashion gala is its emphasis on the organic needs of the people who activate fashion and the involvement of women in the creative manufacturing and execution of fashion garments. The maiden World Fashion Week will bring together fashion icons, leaders and international media from across five continents to celebrate cultural diversity expressed through designs of renowned names in global fashion. The celebration will benefit the Art of Living Foundation founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for their outstanding commitment to women empowerment and the eradication of global poverty furthering social and human development in over 150 countries.
Top designers will present especially created couture garments as a preview of World Fashion Week 2012. The present outfit will then be donated to support the cause. After the Fashion Week in New York, these garments will be taken on a world tour, all the way to the WFW NYC 2012 Inaugural Ceremony.
