Rockstar, a four-year-old brand based out of Hyderabad that

offers casual shirts, denims and trousers for men is now looking to increase their retail reach. The brand is sold through 1,200 MBOs at the moment most of them are in south India. “We are looking to expand,” says Nikhil Lalwani, Director, Rockstar. “We hope to be pan India in two years. At some point we want to open EBOs and will begin with Hyderabad,” he says.

The brand is stylish, sophisticated and classy even in casual wear. It has eight collections a year and manufactures 1.25 lakh pieces a month. Rockstar also has a roadshow booking every 45 days. As to Lalwani explains, “Casuals are becoming more popular every year, people wear smart casuals even to offices these days.” The brand plans to add T-shirts by August and later add footwear to the product portfolio.

Rockstar does 80,000 shirt pieces and 40,000 bottom pieces a month, spread between denims and cotton trousers. “In leg wear we do 60 cotton and 40 denim”, Lalwani informs. For the oncoming Autumn/Winter season, Rockstar has fresh colours. The brand has checks and solids for the season and is playing only on the insides and has barely touched the outer design elements. Bottoms are narrow but the thighs and hips are loose. “Apart from stretch we have used a few rigids this season. We have a sizeable linen collection in both bottoms and shirts,” he sums up.
