Ronaldo's innerwear label CR7 enters India

After planning to launch his innerwear label CR7 globally
in November, Portuguese football star Christiano Ronaldo will make the line available for his Indian fans. As per sources, Danish company JBS Textile Group, which will produces the CR7 line of innerwear for men and boys, has asked New Delhi-based consulting firm Inventure Brand Management to scout a domestic partner to distribute and retail the undergarments, socks and vests in India.The CR7 range will be pitched between Calvin Klein (CK) and Armani undergarments and would be priced between Rs 800 and Rs 1,900 per piece, similar to the price range of CK, Armani, Diesel and Hugo Boss. The CR7 products will be launched in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2014.
As per a recent research, undergarment sales in India is growing at 20 percent a year and the high-end segment of the market is growing even faster, although the market is quite small. Premium and high-end products constitute less than 5 percent of the country’s estimated 2.4 billion dollars (about Rs14,880 crores) annual undergarment market.
