Reebok India, a leading sportswear brand, has appointedSajid Shamim, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing of Reebok India, as the Brand Director of Reebok at Adidas Group. He will be responsible for the marketing and business strategy of Reebok India. This development has come in the wake of a joint operating model effective from May 2011, by the Adidas Group in India (Adidas owns Reebok and Adidas globally). Shamim has been with the company for the past 10 years. Under his leadership, Reebok has been credited with many firsts and has successfully maintained brand leadership in an increasingly competitive market. Large retail presence is another potential area where Shamim has focused on and that has derived encouraging results. Reebok has successfully used the franchisee model within India.
Shamim believes that as a market leader, Reebok must take the mantle on itself to grow the market and undertake new initiatives to go the extra mile in delighting consumers with what is contemporary and unique. Reebok has also won a number of awards under Shamim’s leadership. While pursuing his MBA at XLRI Jamshedpur, Shamim was bent on joining the sales field – in the area of sports marketing. However, post MBA, he joined Coca Cola. During his two and half years there, he learnt the practical aspect of marketing strategies. He then moved on to achieve his pre-decided goal and joined Reebok.
