Seat14a, an online portal especially for men’s fashion,

has unveiled an e-platform. Developed by Nav Chatterji, an entrepreneur from Dallas along with co-founders Aditya Sahay and Tarun Arora, Seat14a got its fourth partner in Toronto-based Jas Banwait, the current CEO. It is one of the few companies that has received seed funding from 500 startups.

Currently operating out of San Francisco and New Delhi, Seat14a is working with a simple business model. They connect consumers to upcoming designers by working directly with designers and their own manufacturers to come up with micro-collections i.e. items that make up a complete outfit. At present it’s being done only for men.

The menswear ‘ensemble’ is then promoted through social media and emails sent out every week to registered members. The company has micro-collections up for about two weeks or till it’s sold out. During this time, they provide their distribution partners with real-time analytics (purchase velocity, geo, etc,) so they can take informed buying decisions subsequently. In June 2013, Seat 14A Lite was launched in the US for those who prefer renting clothes.
