Shoppers Stop adds MAC, Clinique counters

Shoppers Stop at Ambience Mall, New Delhi opened a MAC

counter whilst the one at Forum Mall, Kolkata has added a new Clinique counter. With these new doors, Shoppers Stop now offers the MAC brand of colored cosmetics through 18 points of purchase across India and 10 for the skincare brand Clinique.

Clinique the well known skincare, cosmetics, toiletries and fragrances brand is, owned by the Estee Lauder Corporation. In 1968, Clinique premiered as the world’s first allergy-tested, dermatologist-driven line and was launched at the prestigious New York Saks Fifth Avenue. Clinique formulates their products avoiding known allergens. They test each product for allergic reactions by applying it to 600 people 12 times, with a standard of zero reactions. Although mostly known as a skincare line, half of revenue for Clinique is derived from their makeup, with about a quarter being contributed by their popular make up foundation alone. Clinique also carries a line of makeup brushes coated with an antibacterial solution.

MAC stands for Make-up Art Cosmetics, founded in Toronto by Frank Toscan and Frank Angelo in 1984. Initially, the company's products were specifically designed for professional make-up artists, but now they are sold to consumers worldwide. Estee Lauder companies acquired controlling rights of MAC in 1994, and then completed the acquisition of the company in 1998. MAC produces the entire gamut of colored cosmetics and applicators and is known for its ‘Cruelty-Free Beauty’ based on a principle that prohibits animal testing and the policy is extended to ingredient suppliers as well.
