Shrivan-Narresh head for Miami

Holiday and beachwear designers Shrivan-Narresh are now readying to participate at the Miami

Fashion Week to be held from July 16 to 19. They will exhibit their spring/summer 2012 line of swimsuits in colors like ochre, sea green, scarlet, khakis, blues and whites. Shrivan Bhatia and Narresh Kukreja of Shrivan Narresh are slowly being known as India’s first luxury swimwear brand. The designers’ swimwear has been sported by celebrities like Fergie (Black Eyed Peas), popstar Nicki Minaj, and supermodel Padma Lakshmi. The duo first exhibited on the runway in spring/summer 2010. Their collection has already been featured in many swimsuit calendars. Their beachwear collection is made up of bandeau bikinis, block-piece swimsuits and cover-ups in blue, grey, yellow and coral.

They are the first in India to use the Italian bond technique to create their stitch-free beachwear line. Shrivan-Narresh graduated from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. Their association started in 2004, which got them several company projects. From designing football jerseys for 10 national football clubs of India to designing neck ties for students of IIT Roorkee, they have come a long way.

On whether India has a swimwear market, they say, “We know India is not exactly a market for swimsuits like Europe, Brazil or the US. But we are surrounded by a coastline on all three sides. We are not the kind of brand that says swimsuits are sleaze, swimsuits are sexy or swimsuits are skimpy. Our idea is that swimsuits should be elegant and for everyone.”
