Skechers arrives on Indian shores

Popular American fashion footwear brand Skechers is now launching in India. After opening a subsidiary
in Brazil and establishing a successful joint venture in China, the lifestyle footwear brand is planning to tap the Indian footwear market. A top global player in the lifestyle footwear industry, Skechers has nearly 3,000 styles for men, women and kids. Optimistic about its prospects in the Indian market, Skechers plans to open five stores this year. These will come up in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The first standalone store will be in Mumbai. The collection ranges from Rs 599 to Rs 3,799 for women and Rs 599 to Rs 3,999 for men. Actress Shazahn Padamsee, who debuted in the recent Bollywood flick Rocket Singh -- Salesman of the year has been roped in as the brand ambassador in India.According to Marvin Bernstein, managing partner of Skechers USA, the demand for premium international products has grown dramatically in India, and the brand is happy to introduce fashion-conscious consumers the Skechers concept: a one-stop-shop of trend-right, high-quality lifestyle footwear for the entire family. The brand will be available at leading footwear multi-brand footwear retailers such as Regal, Metro, Lifestyle, Planet Sports, Pantaloons and Central and other leading footwear and department stores across India.
