Sujal Shah, Head of Fashion and VP of IMG, will be moving on to greener pastures after the

upcoming Lakme Fashion Week’s Summer/Resort edition to be held from March 11 to 15, 2011. Shah says as a culmination of his dedication to business, e-commerce, and fashion/lifestyle in India, he will be partnering a new e-commerce venture to be launched at the end of Q1 this year. The new enterprise will be online and concentrate on selling footwear and fashion/lifestyle across India. And he is excited because it’s a big venture and has a great potential in India.

Shah feels he is fortunate to have been allowed to add his perspective and experience to a vibrant and growing industry in India. Indian fashion is here to stay and has not yet tapped its full potential globally. “As organized retail in India and as designers get better at production and business efficiencies, the industry will grow domestically and abroad. There needs to be more diligence and ownership by designers in this process and greater institutional support of the industry to make this a near term versus a far term reality,” he says. Through his new venture and close ties to the industry, he hopes to be able to continue to contribute to the success of the business of fashion in India.

Shah has been working with Lakme Fashion Week since March 2009 and after a two year stint, he moves on, former Vogue Advertising Director, Gulshan Randhawa and Fashion/Lifestyle & Marketing veteran, Anjana Sharma, have been appointed to the Lakmé Fashion Week Management Team.
