Swiss Military to open stores in India

The Swiss Military brand known for its wide range of corporate gifting solutions, menswear and premium

lifestyle accessories, is planning to open stores in India. The brand was available in the country only through online platforms and in-flight services. Backed and run by an Indian, it already enjoys presence in 26 countries.

The company has put up a three-phased retail strategy in place to establish a footprint in the country. As a part of its plan, the company will open its first retail outlet in Delhi followed by Chandigarh early next month, with a plan to open 150 stores by the end of this year eyeing a revenue Rs 100 crores. Though it does not plan to start manufacturing in India yet, it would look for franchisees and licensees here.

The 30-year-old company, run by Managing Director, Anuj Sahwney’s father Ashok Sawhney has close to 600 stores in Europe alone. In India, the first phase of the company’s plans includes travel gear and writing instruments, followed by cosmetics, perfumes, bath gels and shower gels, besides women’s apparel, a category it plans launch next year. Globally, it offers 12 product divisions.
