Swiss luxury watchmaker Seven Friday, known for its industrial-design
inspired watches having 'squircle' (a combination of square and circle) shaped-dials is soon entering the Indian market. The Zurich-based brand founded in May 2012 is present in 58 countries. Between 2012 and 2013, Seven Friday has sold over 12,000 watches globally, out of which 650-700 pieces were sold in Malaysia alone.Seven Friday was introduced in India four months back with its presence through social media and, its online store on the parent company as a test-marketing exercise. Prices of high-end luxury watches start at Rs 92,000 and go up to Rs 1,05,000 in India and a minimum of two timepieces sell everyday on their social networking platform.
Seven Friday's offline sales happen through a standalone luxury retailer in New Delhi. Now the India distributor is in the process of finalising a sales and marketing deal with A S Motiwala luxury store for the Mumbai market. The brand is planning to expand its presence across all metros, and Tier II towns of India.
The Seven Friday watch portfolio comprises of eight variants and the next 'M 2' series are going to be launched in June this year globally and in India. The watches differ from others in that these have an industrial-inspired design, based on numerous things such as engines and mechanical movements. The dial, which comes in bright blue, green or orange colours, is shaped like a wheel. The watches are packed in cases that resemble wine boxes.
