Tara Jewellers - a recent entrant in the country's organised jewelry retail industry and a retail arm

of Tara Jewels - has won the SEEPZ SEZ award for ‘Highest Export Performance’ in gems and jewelry sector for the year 2009-10. The company which is now one of India’s leading group of gold and diamond jewelry manufacturing, design and distribution, has also received the ‘Highest Net Foreign Exchange Earner for 2009-10’ competing with the 189 units in the gems & jewelry sector of SEEPZ SEZ (Special Economic Zone), a government export and import policy scheme set up with a view to provide an internationally competitive and hassle free environment for export production. This is a hat-trick for Tara Jewellers as it’s the third successive time it has been honored with this award after 2008-09 and 2007-2008.

Tara Jewels, whose total income was Rs 815.95 crores in FY 10, has four manufacturing facilities - one in China and three in Mumbai, employing about 1,500 white and blue collared staff across four continents. The total aggregate jewelry production of the company stood at 2,562.91 kg in 2010. The product portfolio includes fashion, bridal and handmade jewelry with prices ranging from $18 to $10,000. Tara Jewels primarily exports to Australia, China, Canada, European Union, South Africa, the UAE, the UK and the US. In the European Union it exports to 16 countries, including Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
