Tarun Tahiliani to open forthcoming edition of WIFW

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2014 edition, to be held at

Pragati Maidan from March 26, 2014 will see renowned designer Tarun Tahiliani showcase his creations in the opening of the fashion gala.

The designer recently unveiled his Spring/Summer collection. Using myriad ideas – from sorbet colours to arcane techniques with emphasis on prêt-à-porter, Tahiliani’s S/S ’14 collection focuses on exquisite separates that can be paired up to create various permutations and combinations. It takes inspiration from land of European chintz to indigenous Bidri work to Jamawaar and abstract art. The multiple influences are translated into everything from a T-shirt and pencil skirt to a lehenga, kaftan and a sari among other exclusive ready to wear pieces.

Fashion designer Namrata Joshipura has been named grand finale designer for the five-day long fashion extravaganza. WIFW, a bi-annual event organised by the FDCI, has seen many established designers showcasing their collection. It is also a springboard for upcoming designers, who get an opportunity to showcase their work to discerning audiences.
