TCNS eyes entry into overseas markets

Ethnic wear firm TCNS Clothing, the force behind brands W and Aurelia plans to venture overseas in markets like

Singapore, Mauritius and Sri Lanka, with its own outlets. Sighting an opportunity after almost 15 percent of orders on its in-house website poured in from international customers, the company decided to explore overseas locations. The company also plans to give a fresh look to its online platform ‘ShopforW’.

While online sales from its own sites along with other e-commerce platforms contribute 10 percent of total sales, the company aims to achieve over 80 percent sales growth this year against 40 percent last year. It also plans to open 100 new outlets of W and Aurelia brands with Rs 25 crores investment. As of now, the company retails its merchandise through 160 W and 50 Aurelia outlets.

The company raised about Rs 60 crores funds in 2011 from risk capital firm Matrix Partners, retails its products through several e-tailing platforms but fashion portals Myntra and Jabong and Flipkart are its top online sales platforms. As per a recent Technopak research, apparel and lifestyle contribute 25 percent of all online sales as of now and are expected to increase its pie to 30 percent in the next five years. Online retail is estimated to grow up to Rs 2.3 lakh crore in 2019.
