The Collective, the multi-brand luxury lifestyle retail concept of Madura Fashion and Lifestyle,

a wholly-owned subsidiary of listed Aditya Birla Nuvo, is expanding its footprint. It plans to launch 8-10 stores in about eight cities in the next three years with an investment of Rs 54-90 crores. The focus is on Tier II cities and metros, where the company wants to open new stores. At present, The Collective has one store each in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi. Each store sells a range of 60 international luxury fashion brands including Armani Collezioni, D&G, Fred Perry, Hackett, Hugo Boss, J Brand, Juicy Couture, Michael Kors, Simon Carter, True Religion, Vivienne Westwood, and so on.

The company which made losses earlier has now downsized its stores to cut costs and make profits. The earlier ones in the 15,000-17,000 sq. ft. range have been right-sized to 8,500 sq. ft. in Bangalore and to 12,000 sq. ft. each in Mumbai and New Delhi to deal with the losses. Its new additions would be in the 6,000-12,000 sq. ft. range depending on the city and location, requiring an investment of Rs 6-10 crore.

Madura Fashion & Lifestyle is one of India’s fastest growing branded apparel companies and a premium lifestyle player in the retail sector. After consolidating its leadership with its own brands, it introduced premier international labels, enabling Indian consumers to buy the most prestigious global fashionwear and accessories within the country. The company’s brand portfolio includes Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England and People.
