The Republic to handle Welspun

Welspun Retail has awarded its creative mandate to The Republic after a multi-agency pitch.
The account was earlier with McCann Erickson. Welspun has two brands, the value-for-money Welhome and the premium Spaces Home & Beyond. The Republic will handle creative duties for both the brands.On the development, Rajiv Handa, Director and CEO, Welspun Retail said that The Republic would make a tremendous impact in their strategies and give a fillip to build up the brands. He also averred that they chose the agency considering their deep understanding of the consumers and because of their creative insights.
Welspun Retail, India’s largest chain of home décor operates more than 200 stores across 110 cities, offering a range of products in bed, bath, kitchen, dining and living furnishing segments. The company is looking to build strong brands in the category that will occupy top-of-mind recall. It also intends to drive growth in the branded home linen category.
Maia Katrak, Head of The Republic commented that winning the account took them immediately to the challenging environment of retail as this is a new space for the agency. Therefore, in order to get more information about the segment, a thorough research was conducted in stores and customers.
