Daniel Grieder, CEO of iconic men’s wear label Tommy Hilfiger was in India to celebrate brand’s

decade of existence in India. The company plans to ramp up its sourcing as well as retail network in the country.

Grieder says, in Asia, India is giving a tough fight to Japan to grab the number two position after China. Keeping this in mind, the company would unveil more lines under denim and kids’ wear as well as home collection. Aggressive retail expansion is also on the cards over the next five years apart from increasing local sourcing.

He feels India being a colourful country, augurs well with Tommy Hilfiger brand since its designs are usually bright and the climate here makes it a perfect market for brand’s cotton collection. While he believes that e-commerce presence is important for the brand’s growth, he says that the company must have a multi-channel approach rather than focusing on a single retail vehicle.

World-renowned designer Tommy Hilfiger was also in India to attend the celebrations. His love for India travels way back to the 80’s when he worked with a Delhi-based company called Shahi. He finds Indian fabrics to be the best in the world.
