Tommy Hilfiger, the lifestyle brand, launched its children’s
wear line in the northern state of Punjab with a flagship store in the state capital Chandigarh. Tommy Hilfiger children’s wear will also be available in Kapsons stores across Punjab. Spread over an area of 700 sq. ft, the store offers the entire range of children's wear. The launch marks the introduction of Tommy Hilfiger’s spring/summer 2011 collection. It offers a spirited take on the brand’s iconic American preppy style, with a forward-looking twist. Comprising three fashion deliveries, the spring/summer 2011 collection is inspired by Little League Baseball, America’s Ivy League universities as well as the beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets of Hawaii. This collection proves the global trend of the sophistication now seen in children’s clothing lines.A new concept in children’s wear, Hawaii Hula, takes inspiration from Hawaii with its images of idyllic holidays, big waves, sunsets and palm trees. Retro Hawaiian shorts and a collection of cool vintage labels combine for a chilled-out Hawaiian vibe. For boys, the look is beach casual with washed Hawaiian shirts, printed board shorts with cargo details, retro piping and binding and colorful t-shirts and vests. A more feminine look is offered for girls, with vintage tropical patterns including exotic florals on voile dresses.
The American Prep look is showcased with classic styles worn with a fashionable new twist. Iconic Ivy League essentials, including chinos, club blazers, polo shirts, and a selection of pick and mix checks and stripes alongside key Tommy Hilfiger heritage colors – red, white and blue – are given a twist and refreshed with hits of preppy pop colors, including green, pink, yellow and bright blue. Graphics possess a vintage varsity feel with campus artwork, badges, tie fabric and stripes that complete the look for the little young wannabe adult. Little League on the other hand is about a sporty look with sweatshirts and track pants, cleverly styled with polos, blazers and preppy striped shirts. The looks are topped off with fine details such as tie stripe trims and inserts.
The brand which was brought to India by Arvind Murjani Brands, a JV between Murjani Group and Arvind Mills, in 2004, is all set to strengthen its position in the country. It plans to launch 25 new EBOs by the end of this calendar year to reach the 100-store mark.
