Mumbai-based designer Troy Costa, who debuted at the Van Heusen India Men’s Week 2010

in New Delhi, has brought out Kudeta, a range of resort wear titled after a famous nightclub in Bali. The new range of resort wear for men isn’t just about just flowery printed shirts and Bermuda shorts. In fact, Costa uses semi-transparent shirts in different hues with fabrics conceptualized with over-dyed textiles. He uses his extensive knowledge of fabrics and texture to create something in menswear that is often perceived as boring.

The Mumbai-based designer who has previously participated in previous editions of Lakme Fashion Week wants to provoke people to rethink menswear. The shirts in his new collection are semi-transparent from white to a thousand shades of color in the desert. Even blue represents a color trend in all its variants from indigo to the vintage denim shirt. Costa feels the Indian man is years behind his global counterpart in terms of style and that a lack of couture outlets in the country could be part of the reason. Incidentally, Cost has also dressed up many Bollywood stars. His creations have been flaunted in almost 35 mainstream Bollywood films. His clientele boasts of creative channel heads, budding architects, celebrities as well as corporate head honchos.
