Uniqlo has reported that its October 2012

same-store sales decreased by 2.2 percent year on year while sales at its own stores decreased by 0.2 percent. Total sales including online sales increased by 0.7 percent. Same-store sales held flat year on year in October as persistently warm weather throughout the month stifled sales of fall/winter garments.

Uniqlo is a brand of Fast Retailing (FR), a leading global Japanese retail holding company that designs, manufactures and sells clothing under six main brands: Comptoir des Cotonniers, g.u., Helmut Lang, Princesse tam.tam, Theory, and Uniqlo. FR is the world’s fourth largest apparel retail company and Uniqlo is Japan’s leading specialty retailer. Today Uniqlo has more than 1,100 stores in 13 markets, namely in Japan, China, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and US.

Fast Retailing plans to open 4,000 Uniqlo outlets by 2020, with 1,000 each in China and Southeast Asia. Stores may also be opened in India, Australia and New Zealand. As the group expands, large production bases will be established outside China.
