Although there are a couple of Indian designers who have made it big abroad, Vineet Bahl

became the first Indian designer to retail out at the prestigious online popular portal, Net-a-porter.com. NaP ventured into the e-commerce about 10 years ago when the business of selling clothes online was unheard of. Famous for its observation before selecting labels for the website, NaP has been monitoring Bahl’s label for about two years before finally deciding to buy his S/S’12 collection.

Happy to have made to the renowned portal, Bahl said that NaP is the entrance to the world of eclectic fashion where designers are observed for their creativity and commercial viability and only then they are selected. Bahl will now compete with labels like Gucci, Lanvin, YSL and Prada. He also said that his entry to the portal will help him to take his product closer to his customer base all over the world. Thus, even those customers who don’t have access to my physical stores can also buy my creations. No surprise then, Bahl’s yellow maxi dress with an embroidered neckline and appliqué detail was sold in less than 24 hours of having gone online. A delighted Bahl said that he cannot be complacent as there are many more milestones yet to be achieved.
