As reiterated by Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI,

time and again, even the spring-summer season of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week that ended on October 10, 2012 proved to be a pure business event with many young designers getting buyers attention from around the globe. Their unique design aesthetics and out-of-the-box presentation wowed the Indian audiences and foreign visitors.

From debutante Payal Pratap - wife of ace designer Rajesh Pratap Singh - to designers like Atsu Sekhose, Nachiket Barve, Anand Bhushan and Aneeth Arora, all were able to create a positive image among buyers from Japan and European nations. Buyers especially liked the creativity on display and appreciated collection by Rahul Mishra and Samant Chauhan, who used traditional fabrics for their designs.

If Nagaland-born Atsu’s collection brought the rich culture of the Northeast, which was dominated by Naga fabrics like cotton and silk, others like Mishra, Chauhan and Payal Pratap generously used traditional fabrics like Ikkat, chikankari and zardosi in their ensemble. For them, this edition was all about exploring their Indian roots and interpreting it in different ways.

The five-day fashion extravaganza, organised by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), started October 6 and as many as 132 designers, also witnessed veterans like Ashish N. Soni, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Namrata Joshipura, Wendell Rodricks, Gaurav Gupta, James Ferreira, Manish Malhotra, Suneet Varma, Kavita Bhartia and Ritu Kumar presenting a mix of pret and couture line. Business was good with buyers from Kuwait and Middle East nations, Australia, China and Singapore showing interest in the designs.
