WikiLeaks to unveil T-shirts and denim range in India

E-shopping crazy Indian customers have attracted attention of 43-year-old WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who plans
to launch his range of apparel and accessories in the country. He feels that awareness about WikiLeaks in India is the highest and it would create a good opportunity for his collection.He also aims to raise funds through monetization of the WikiLeaks brand, since his non-profit oranisation mainly relies on donations. Company officials will be in India over the weekend to ink deals with potential partners. Franchisee India is facilitating WikiLeaks' entry into the country.
Along with opening physical retail stores of the brand, WikiLeaks would also explore exclusive online partnerships for its products like T-shirts and sweatshirts, sporting taglines like 'Leaks exposing injustice' and 'Enemy of the state'. Globally, the organization has already signed deals with agents from various countries including France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.
Estimated at 2.3 billion dollars (about Rs 13,900 crores) at present, online retail accounts for just 0.4 percent of the overall retail market in India, according to retail advisory firm Technopak. By 2019, the e-tail market is expected to reach between 19 billion dollars (over Rs 1,14,000 crores) to 38 billion dollars (over Rs 2,29,000 crores), accounting for 2 percent to 4 percent of the overall retail industry.
