The Rs 120 crores online fashion category is expected to see tremendous growth.
E-commerce portals are witnessing more and more customers buying fashion products online. This is true even for apparels, footwear and accessories, products which people normally want to try on before buying. Yebhi.com, which primarily sells fashion products, now sees almost one lakh purchases a month. Tradus.in, another portal getting aggressive in the fashion category, is seeing 100 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth in sales. Manmohan Agarwal, CEO, Yebhi.com says they started off at a time when fashion was not much of an e-commerce category. They used to hardly sell 300 products a month initially and now almost one lakh purchases happen every month. Yebhi.com, which primarily sells fashion products, gives 30 days time to return a product if found unsatisfactory. The top products picked up online include, inner wear, T-shirts, shirts and bags. Several offline fashion retail chains like Pantaloons and Shoppers Stop too have launched their online business. Interestingly it’s women who are driving the online shopping category even though they are supposed to be very finicky and want a touch and feel experience before making the purchase decision. Women are the main drivers, especially when it comes to high-end clothing over the net. They are turning to online shopping in a big way especially when it comes to fashion accessories.
