Building on its current turnover of Rs 37 crores, Blue Buddha the brand from Zedex Clothing is aiming for a turnover of Rs 43 crores next year. The company also plans to open five more EBOs in Gujarat to extend its reach. Commenting on the
current industry scenario, Sanjay Goyal, Director, Zedex Clothing says, “The slowdown did affect our sales, compared to last year, our sales have fallen. But we have kept prices under control compared to bigger brands. We give the same quality at better prices. We are about 30 per cent cheaper and tailor products according to different markets.”
He
further adds by saying, “We have prepared a big range for summer. I think business will be good this summer. We expect to grow by at least 20 per cent.” The brand is present in 95 MBOs in Gujarat, 18 in Maharashtra and has 38 EBOs. Elaborating on their future plan, Goyal says, “We can compete with big brands on price and products but we face competition from the unbranded sector which doesn’t pay excise. We are planning to expand our network to reach out to a wider audience by adding 45 stores in Maharashtra in two years and five more EBOs in Gujarat.”
The company constantly works on design and styles. As Goyal says, what differentiates his brand from the big labels is the ability to cater to small centers along with Tier I cities. “We have products for different tastes,” he opines.
The company has been in this business for 18 years and launched Blue Buddha in 2008, targeting consumers 18 to 40 years of age. “We make casual shirts (Rs 799 to Rs 1,299), denims (Rs 999 to Rs 1,599), T-shirts, jackets (Rs 1,499 to Rs 1,999), bermudas (Rs 699 to Rs 999) and casual trousers (Rs 799 to Rs 1,499),” explains Goyal while talking about the product range on offer.
