Bhawarlal Alok Kumar, makers of the brand Camaro, a men’s casual brand that mainly makes denims, casual trousers and T-shirts are gung-ho about their autumn/winter range. Emphasizing on subtle fashion lines the brand has done extensive

home work on processing of the garments in case of denims and T-Shirts. “Stripers and double mercerized garments along with fashion collared T-shirts will be in vogue this autumn/winter,” exclaims Saumar Sharma, Business Head, Camaro.

With an ultra modern, cut-to-pack production unit, based in Mumbai, and a capacity of producing 700 pieces of denims/trousers per day, the company recently launched knitwear. Sharma avers, “With a complete manufacturing set up from knitting of fabric to the finished product we have it all. Earlier we used to manufacture just 100 pieces of plain trousers. Today, the number has gone up to a few lakh pieces of denims and trousers per annum.”

The knitwear collection was introduced to complement their denim range. The collection named Camaro Leisure is a T-shirt range for men with styles such as plain single jersey polo and yarn dyed stripe polo T-shirts. “On an average there are 60 designs per season with two color combinations per deigns. The fashion tees are in 100 per cent cotton and cotton lycra single jersey with an average of 50 designs per season,” explains he. In spring/summer 2011, the brand plans to include a range of Bermudas, lowers and gym vests.

The 16-year-old company started making T-shirts one-and-a-half years ago. At the moment they sell around three to three-and-a-half lakh pieces a year. “We have put all our efforts in developing a 100 per cent combed cotton single jersey fabric which has been treated and processed in such a way that it gives an extraordinary luster and hand feel to the fabric. Hence, it creates a look of a single mercerized fabric. Our basic and fashion range are made with these fabrics and probably this is what differentiates us from the rest,” opines Sharma.

Camaro is more a regional brand from eastern India with a foothold in Mumbai. Their retail presence/product availability starts from UP, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Assam and the other Northeaster states. With no EBOs as of now they work with approximately 840 MBO’s. The brand now plans to explore retail destinations in states like Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

Camaro also plans to enter exports soon. First on the radar are the East Asian countries. They plan to export under their own brand label. Having experienced growth ranging from 5 per cent during the early years to 78 per cent till date, the brand definitely seems to have come a long way. This season they expect to grow by 45 per cent compared to autumn/winter 2009.
