Expecting a growth in turnover by 15 per cent this season, men’s denim brand, Camaro jeans from the stable of Bhawarlal Alok Kumar plans to add women’s fashion collection apart from spreading retail footprint. As R K Patawari, Director explains,

“We are planning a category for women in spring/summer ’13. It would include jumpsuits, one piece, and tops under the Camaro brand. We also plan to launch our own EBOs in January 2013. The first five stores will be opened in Uttar Pradesh in cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, and Meerut, followed by Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad). Our EBOs will offer men’s denims, trousers, T-shirts, shirts and the women’s range.”

Launched
as a regional brand in 1991 from Eastern India, Camaro soon spread its reach in the states of West Bengal, Orissa, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand , Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Mumbai (Maharashtra), Karnataka and Goa. “We work through 1,200 MBOs spread across various states and though we don’t increase the MBO count, we increase our wall-space with them. We also plan to expand into the international market beginning with East Asian countries under our own label apart from getting into lucrative e-commerce space soon.”

With an ultra-modern, cut-to-pack production unit based in Mumbai and a capacity of producing 700 pieces of denim/trousers per day, Camaro has also introduced a knits collection to complement its denim range with the complete manufacturing set-up from fabric to the finished product. “We make denim, casual trousers, T-shirts and a small amount of casual blazers. T-shirts is just one and a half years old but it’s a huge category for us. Now, we have ventured into women’s denim. Last season, we introduced it in Mumbai followed by Andhra Pradesh and Chhatisgarh,” they add.
